Today is a big day at the Pepperdine University School of Law, and it is one of my favorites. Today, we open our doors to a large number of special individuals that have been accepted as law students for the next academic year. Some of these students know they are coming to Pepperdine while others are still in the difficult decision process. This “open house” provides an opportunity for all of the students to have their questions answered; in addition, it gives us the opportunity to share the unique flavor of the Pepperdine community.
There are several informational panels on tap today — one on the Pepperdine community, another on our various programs, still another with just current students, and finally, an optional panel on how to succeed in law school. In addition, there will be an information fair during lunch, the opportunity to sit in on a first-year Criminal Law class, and tours of our facilities. This year, for the first time, our Christian Legal Society student organization will host a reception at Professor Gash’s home at the end of the day for those students interested in the Christian community at Pepperdine.
I have the honor of emceeing the day, so I expect to be a little tired by day’s end! I also anticipate having met a large number of new, amazing students that will remind me of the great privilege I have in working here.
