I did not come away with any pictures, but there was video shot at last night’s event that will be priceless.
The Parris Institute for Professional Formation has four events on the calendar for the academic year (two each semester) that comprise the Professional Life Series. Last night, the first event took place on the critical topic: “Taking Care of Yourself.”
It was awesome.
The furniture was cleared out of the atrium, and the 1L class turned out en force in workout attire for a fun and informative evening, which included:
- Professor Brittany Stringfellow Otey’s presentation on self-care;
- Four sample workouts, including Zumba, Caveman Training, Sunrise Shred, and Yoga, taught by trainers from Pepperdine Campus Recreation;
- Dr. Connie Horton of the Pepperdine Counseling Center presenting on stress and coping mechanisms;
- Professor Danny DeWalt’s introduction to the Preceptor Program and the Student Life Challenge; and
- Dinner from Baja Fresh.
Learning to take care of yourself is a critical professional skill, and last night’s event taught this skill in all the right ways. I can’t wait for you all to see some video footage of the 1Ls, Dean Tacha, and others in the administration in action!
