Day Ten!!!

It has been a fantastic year, and it ends today with our 1L class taking their final “final.”  There will be cheers from exhausted students late this afternoon when this class of “rising 2Ls” emerges from their testing rooms.  I plan to be there for congratulatory high fives and hugs.

Quite appropriately, the course tested today is “Introduction to Ethical Lawyering” (taught by Professors Bost, Childress, and Cochran).  It is our task to do that very thing — to introduce all our students to what it means to be an ethical lawyer.  It seems right to end the year with that particular examination.

In a sense, summer begins today for the law school, although in reality the law school is busy the entire year.  Next week is graduation week, and our summer classes launch the following week.  Still, today is a significant day, and cause for celebration!

Yours,
Al Sturgeon
Dean of Students
